Fellowships

Pendulum Fellowships: Funds have become available for a number of modest pendulum fellowships tenable at UNSW. These fellowships would ideally suit scholars who have independent means; that is, can pay their own living expenses while in Sydney. The basic intention is to provide a return air fare to Sydney plus some contribution to rental accommodation expenses while in Sydney. The fellowships cannot provide a salary for the time in Sydney. They would ideally suit someone on sabbatical leave. The total value of the fellowships will be between USD4-5,000. It will include full office facilities at UNSW, access to the UNSW library, access to local teachers and schools who are already participating in the project, and access to the extensive literature that the project has already accumulated.

The research need not involve classrooms or pedagogy, it can focus on the historical, methodological, cognitive and cultural aspects of the pendulum, but these should be capable of being linked to pedagogical effort.

The expectation for fellowship holders is that they will be in Sydney for at least a month, preferably for at least 6 weeks; that they will have a clearly defined research project that fits into the overall goals of the IPP (see statement at the IPP web site); and that they can work with and contribute to local pendulum researchers.
